In this class you will learn the basic principles and tools used to process images and videos, and how to apply them in solving practical problems of commercial and scientific interests. Digital images and videos are everywhere these days – in thousands of scientific (e.g., astronomical, bio-medical), consumer, industrial, and artistic applications. Moreover they come in a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum - from visible light and infrared to gamma rays and beyond.

A practical course introducing you to a range of skills and concepts to broaden your understanding of contemporary photography. You will learn about photography as a visual art practice, and how this can help you to become an engaging and active photographer. You will explore the work and concepts of contemporary photographic artists, which may trigger a new interest in what you photograph. In addition to this, you will also learn some of the practical skills required to further explore photography in exciting and creative ways. Finally, we look at the idea of a “digital darkroom” and explore ways that you can further your interest in photography through post-production knowledge and techniques.

Computer Graphics involves display, manipulation, and storage of pictures and experimental data for proper visualization using a computer. Typical graphics system comprises a host computer with the support of fast processor, large memory, frame buffer and: • Display devices (color monitors), • Input devices (mouse, keyboard, joystick, touch screen, trackball), • Output devices (LCD panels, laser printers, color printers. Plotters etc.), • Interfacing devices such as video I/O, TV interface etc.
