Modeling Business Processes with BPMN (mooc house)

Offered by Signavio,
Modeling Business Processes with BPMN (mooc house)

BPMN 2.0 is a graphical language which allows organizations to ‘map’ out their operations so everyone can read and follow what is going on. It also allows modelers to make clear dependencies and links with other maps, giving a holistic, transparent view of how inputs are transformed into outputs within teams, departments, and across the whole organization. This course will give you the foundation to begin mapping your organization’s operations, for clear, consistent models everyone can follow. It will cover the BPMN 2.0 standard, as well as hands-on practice.

Imagine you are lost in a strange city, and you have to get to the airport. What would you do?
Maybe you ask someone for directions - fine, except the second person you ask gives you conflicting instructions. Maybe you don’t even speak the same language.
Maybe you buy a map - except it is missing important contextual information about your journey to the airport. Maybe the train tracks are under maintenance, so the route is different, or there are several changes and a long wait. Without this information, maybe you opt for a taxi, but in fact the bus would be faster. These are dependencies, and without the contextual information there is no way to know the fastest route.
What most of us would do is open up our map application, and tap in our location with the airport as our destination. Immediately, we get a list of options, with the time, number of changes, and other contextual information displayed. Better yet - comments from people who have done the route before, with advice and tips.

To really show you the power of BPMN 2.0, you will be using Signavio Process Editor to get hands-on practice. The Process Editor is like Google Maps - bringing the map, contextual information, and suggestions from your peers/colleagues together into a one-stop, single source of truth on your organizational journey.

This demands creativity in conceiving and implementing new ways to generate economic benefits from the wide array of information assets available to an organization. Unfortunately, information too frequently is underappreciated and therefore underutilized.
