Perkins School for the Blind

Perkins School for the Blind is a progressive, multi-faceted organization working around the world to prepare children and young adults who are blind or deafblind with the education, confidence and skills they need to realize their full potential. Perkins has one of the most comprehensive offerings available to children and young adults who are blind – meaning those who have a visual impairment, including those who are deafblind or have multiple disabilities. We are the first school for the blind in the U.S., responsible for the groundbreaking education of Laura Bridgman and Helen Keller, two of the world’s earliest individuals with deafblindness to be formally educated. Our quest for excellence, strengthened by decades of developing and testing best practices, drives our work in education, advocacy and accessibility. We work to fulfill our mission through our independent School and deafblind programs, eLearning, accessible Library, accessibility solutions and international programs.
