Yashar Ghiassi

Dr. Yashar Ghiassi-Farrokhfal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Technology and Operations Management at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University in the Netherlands. Additionally, he is the academic director of Smart Cities and Smart Energy at the Erasmus Center for Data Analytics (ECDA). He holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Toronto, Canada. His research interests include modeling energy systems for investment and operational decisions, microgrids, electric vehicles, integrating renewable energy and dealing with its uncertainty, energy storage modeling, market mechanisms at retail, wholesale, and bilateral levels. He has a multi-disciplinary approach and as a result, has published in top journals across different disciplines including: Energy Economics (Applied Energy), Data Analytics (Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Energy Research), Computer Science/Electrical Engineering (IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grids, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy).
