Syllabus

WEEK 1
Introduction
Welcome to our MOOC! You will get to know the course instructors and more information about the course structure, course rules and where to get help if needed.

WEEK 2
Module 1: Why Munich?
This module focuses on the city of Munich and why it is such a great choice to spend your time abroad here. We will give you some information about the city itself, but also about the biggest universities - the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, the Hochschule München and the Technische Universität München.

WEEK 3
Module 2: Why TUM?
This module will give you some information about Munich as a city and its universities. You will also hear some personal statements of international students on why TUM is a great university to pursue a degree.

WEEK 4
Module 3: Preparations for your stay in Munich
Now it's time for action! We will provide information about where to seek advice and get the proper info. Also we will show you what you need to know as an exchange or degree seeking student. Furthermore, securing an accommodation in Munich will be a big topic in this module.

WEEK 5
Module 4: Getting started - first steps
When finally they arrive in Munich, for many students it's not really easy to accommodate. Therefore we will show you, what needs to be done after you move here, as well as provide tips on how to explore your new hometown and a new culture.

WEEK 6
Module 5: Student life at the university
Once you are settled, it's not long until university starts! We will show you what's important to know about the German Study System as well as some useful information about your daily life as a student.

WEEK 7
Module 6: Student life - leisure time
Unfortunately, for some "leisure time" means also "sidejob time", so we have some information about the regularities concerning working as an international student in Germany. Finally: Last but not least - let's have some fun! We will provide you with some tips on what to do in Munich and nice trips to surrounding landmarks.
