Understanding EU-Russia Relations: Foreign Policy Actors, Institutions and Policy-Making (UT)
The main aim of the course is to give students an introduction to and overview of the EU’s and Russia’s foreign policy actors, institutions and frameworks of both entities’ interactions. The course combines various formats of e-learning possibilities (video lectures, short audio podcasts, guest video interviews, skills workshops, etc.). Students will have the possiblity to complete weekly quizzes, participate in the course forum and also complete a short mini-project at the end of the course.

The new course is organized into five issue specific modules, which discuss such topics as:

- historical and institutional framework of the EU-Russia relations;

- EU and Russia’s relevant foreign policy actors and institutions

- contested areas of EU and Russia’s interactions in shared neighbourhood

- EU -Russia energy relations




The course provides students with both theoretical knowledge and sector specific expertise covered by practitioners coming from HEIs, NGOs and EU institutions such as members of the European Parliament, representatives of the Union of European Federalists, Estonia -Russia CBC programme and Barents Euro-Arctic Cooperation. At the end of the course course, students will also be able to apply their acquired knowledge in practice through completing a short mini-project, focused on media analysis of sources dealing with state of EU-Russia affairs.
