Doane University

Doane University is the first private, liberal arts institution in Nebraska, nestled on an idyllic 300 acre “English Cottage” style Osterhout Arboretum. Established in 1872, Doane University embraces our founder’s spirit to immerse each student in knowledge that represents only the very best of what has been written, thought, spoken or performed throughout the ages.

At the heart of the University is our commitment to academic excellence, inquiry and making an impact to better serve people, communities and society. Doane is known for its strong and distinctive undergraduate programs in the natural and applied sciences, teacher education, liberal arts and business along with outstanding regional and national performing arts groups. Doane was named the No. 1 school in Nebraska back-to- back years (2014 and 2015) in Money.com’s “Best Colleges for Your Money” rankings and is also recognized for its convenient, affordable, flexible continuing education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in its College of Professional Studies and College of Education.

Today Doane University provides students with the skills and knowledge to compete in the 21st Century. We instill in students a pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit that gives them the confidence to not only get jobs, but create them within a diverse global community. We do this through emphasizing critical thinking skills and interdisciplinary approaches to learning, expanding opportunities for international study and exchange, prioritizing the use of advanced technologies for online teaching and learning, increasing flexibility by un-bundling degree programs, broadening interaction with business and industry to ensure relevance, and reaffirming our commitment to sustainability by promoting human health and environmental stewardship.
