Thom Lane

My name is Thom. I am a Machine Learning Scientist at AWS and have been sharing my expertise in MXNet with internal and external customers over the last couple of years. I studied MORSE at the University of Warwick, which just to clarify, is not a degree on the character encoding with dots and dashes, but Maths, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics. Since then I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects from topic analysis of documents, trend detection in Google searches and worked to add reinforcement learning support on Amazon SageMaker. As a Vancouverite I spend a lot of my spare time climbing and using gradient descent to get back down.
