Building High Quality User Experience Using Material UI (Coursera)

A user experience is built upon a user’s experiences and interactions with a product, system, or service. Providing high quality digital experiences in a web application involves writing CSS codes which focus on display, navigation, actions, input, and communication. However, CSS has its own set of challenges which can be addressed using Material UI design library.

Introduction to User Experience (edX)

This MOOC will review the fundamental elements UX practice (e.g., UX project, key concepts, activities, roles, deliverables). From application software to mobile application and website, get an introduction on how to design professional interfaces offering quality experiences. The user experience is defined as the result of the internal states (eg expectations, predispositions) of a user, the characteristics of a system (eg complexity, usability) and the context of use of the interaction between the user and the system (eg in organization, in private).

Understanding User Needs (Coursera)

Designing effective interactive systems requires understanding the needs and capabilities of the people who will be using them. In this UX course we will focus on how to interact with users (or potential users) to understand what they need, what they currently do, what they love and hate, and examine human capabilities and behavior as they relate to UX design.

Visual Elements of User Interface Design (Coursera)

This design-centric course examines the broad question of what an interface is and what role a designer plays in creating a user interface. Learning how to design and articulate meaning using color, type, and imagery is essential to making interfaces function clearly and seamlessly. Through a series of lectures and visual exercises, you will focus on the many individual elements and components that make up the skillset of an interface designer. By the end of this course, you will be able to describe the key formal elements of clear, consistent, and intuitive UI design, and apply your learned skills to the design of a static screen-based interface.

Web Design: Strategy and Information Architecture (Coursera)

This course is focused on the early user experience (UX) challenges of research, planning, setting goals, understanding the user, structuring content, and developing interactive sequences. While the concepts covered will translate to many kinds of interactive media (apps, digital kiosks, games), our primary focus will be on designing contemporary, responsive websites. In this course you will complete the first half of a large scale project—developing a comprehensive plan for a complex website—by defining the strategy and scope of the site, as well as developing its information architecture and overall structure.
