Ce cours s’adresse à vous en tant que citoyen : découvrez les enjeux économiques, environnementaux, géopolitiques et sociétaux de l’extraction, de la transformation et de la fin de vie des ressources minérales. Appréhendez les choix politiques à l’échelle nationale, européenne et internationale afin d’identifier vos leviers d’actions personnels.

Syllabus

WEEK 1
Introduction du MOOC « Ressources minérales et transition »
Pourquoi un MOOC sur les ressources minérales et les transitions ? Quels rôles les ressources minérales ont-elles joué dans les grandes transitions sociotechniques de l’histoire humaine ? Pourquoi n’est-il pas tout à fait correct de parler d’épuisement des ressources minérales ?

WEEK 2
Les enjeux liés à l’approvisionnement en métaux pour les transitions
Age du cuivre, du bronze, du fer… comment pourrions-nous qualifier notre ère par rapport aux métaux ? Quand on dit que les « terres rares » sont des matériaux critiques, qu’est-ce que cela veut dire ? Quelles sont les implications géostratégiques de cette criticité dans la dynamique de transition énergétique et numérique ? Si la dépendance à certains métaux fragilise la transition énergétique et numérique en France, pourquoi ne pas relocaliser nos approvisionnements en métaux critiques ? Au-delà de ces enjeux globaux et nationaux, quels sont les enjeux de l’extraction des minéraux nécessaires aux transitions à l’échelle locale des territoires ?

WEEK 3
Économie circulaire et cycle de vie des ressources minérales
Dans ce contexte mondial de pression sur les métaux critiques, peut-on et doit-on maintenir le rythme des transitions énergétique et numérique ? L’économie circulaire est-elle une solution pour découpler transition énergétique et numérique et extraction des ressources minérales ? Dans cette séquence, nous vous invitons à « penser cycle de vie ». Mais qu’est-ce que cela signifie ? Et qu’est-ce que cela nous apporte ?

WEEK 4
Mines et territoires en transition
Cette dernière semaine adresse la question de la transition du modèle minier en tant que tel: Quand on parle de transition, de quoi parle-t-on finalement ? Quelles innovations technologiques du modèle minier pour une plus grande soutenabilité des transitions énergétique et numérique ? Quels leviers pour un renouvellement de la gouvernance et du dialogue territorial autour des projets miniers ? Cette dernière semaine sera enfin celle du bilan : les différents intervenants tenteront d’apporter leurs propres éléments de réponses à nos deux questions structurantes : Le cycle de vie des ressources minérales peut-il soutenir les transitions énergétiques et numériques du XXIème siècle ? Quelles innovations pour accompagner la transition vers un modèle minier plus durable ?
