Televisión Educativa

The Ministry of Education of México (SEP) through Television Educativa signed a cooperation agreement as a member with edX. The Mexican Government made a covenant with its most prestigious educational institutions to offer the best massive online open courses.
Televisión Educativa is part of the Secretaría de Educación Pública (Ministry of Education) of México. It was created with the aim of contributing to the strengthening and development of teaching, and offers new alternatives for audiovisual education aimed at resolving the educational gap, especially in rural areas, through the EDUSAT Network. Its mission is to produce and broadcast audiovisual educational, cultural and informational content in its various forms through information and communication technologies (ICTs) to contribute to all Mexicans access to quality education.
Televisión Educativa aims to be a world reference in the production, distribution and broadcast of audiovisual educational, cultural and informational content, providing access to distance education, helping to enhance the quality of life of México's population. Throughout nearly 50 years of activities, Televisión Educativa has transformed and adapted to support education in México, for which it has a strong infrastructure; it´s a pioneer in Distance Education mode and it has positioned as one of the most important of its kind in Latin America.
In December 2013, to mark Television Educativa commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, and in accordance to the National Digital Strategy, a priority from the Federal Government of President Enrique Peña Nieto, signed a cooperation agreement with edX.org, to facilitate the online education initiatives, offering and developing online interactive classes and MOOCs from the world’s best universities.
