Richard Edwards

Richard L. Edwards is Director of the Integrated Learning Institute (iLearn) at Ball State University. Edwards received his Ph.D. in Critical Studies from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. From 2002-2004, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Annenberg Center for Communication's Institute for Multimedia Literacy (IML). He has been an Assistant Professor of New Media at Saint Mary's College of CA and IUPUI. As a researcher and instructional designer in online education, Edwards has published peer-reviewed articles and given national presentations and invited talks, including on social networking, online collaboration, open access, digital storytelling, virtual worlds, and active learning. Edwards is the co-author of The Maltese Touch of Evil: Film Noir and Potential Criticism (Dartmouth College Press/UPNE, 2011). Edwards is co-host of an internationally recognized scholarly podcast, Out of the Past: Investigating Film Noir. He is a founding editorial board member of MediaCommons.org.
