Joseph P. Bailey

Joseph P. Bailey is the Executive Director of the QUEST Honors Program and an Associate Research Professor at the Smith School. He has been a faculty member at the University of Maryland since 1998. Bailey’s scholarly interests are at the intersection of business and technology with an emphasis on information technology. He recently completed a year as an Edison Scholar at the United States Patent and Trademark Office doing research on machine learning for for patent search. Bailey teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate classes including entrepreneurship, systems thinking, and information systems. He has a Ph.D. from the Technology, Management and Policy Program at MIT, an M.S. in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
