Carl Rand

Carl Rand is an independent project management consultant and educator based in the San Francisco Bay area. Carl has worked for major corporations, including CA Technologies, NetApp, Intuit, Nortel Networks, Visa International, and IBM. In these endeavors, he has extended his broad range of project management, consulting, and facilitation skills to help organizations assess risks, plan for business continuity, reengineer business processes, effectively manage project portfolios, and implement cross-functional enterprise programs. Carl holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and a B.A. in marine biology from Occidental College. He has been a featured track and workshop speaker at several ProjectWorld conferences and currently teaches project management courses through UCSC Extension. His areas of expertise include project planning and control, risk assessment and mitigation, management consultation, mentoring, training, and curriculum development. He is an avid sailor and scuba diver and volunteers his time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Pacific Grove Hyperbaric Chamber.
