Alan Maloney

Dr. Alan Maloney is a Senior Research Fellow at the Friday Institute, and Extension Associate Professor of Mathematics Education. He is currently the director of the GISMO group, and is a long-time collaborator with Dr. Confrey. He is a co-designer of the LPPSync diagnostic assessment prototype, as well as other mathematics educational software (including Function Probe and Graphs ‘n Glyphs). His research interests include development and validation of learning trajectories for K-8 mathematics, use of learning trajectories for instructional improvement, and synthesis of research on rational number reasoning. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University.
