La littérature médicale et soignante met de plus en plus en lumière l’importance de la spiritualité dans le processus de restauration de la santé, et ce pour le meilleur (l’intérêt pour et par le patient) et pour le pire (une instrumentalisation du spirituel et/ou du religieux).

Dans une société sécularisée et pluriculturelle, comment appréhender ce recours au spirituel ? L’importance de cette convocation invite les professionnel.les à prendre au sérieux les besoins spirituels du patient de manière ajustée, en portant attention à ce que le malade souhaite vraiment. Et pour cela, à développer des compétences en « spiritual care », inscrites dans une compréhension des cultures et des manières de vivre la maladie en contexte de soins, et dans l’accompagnement ajusté des personnes souffrantes.
La portée de ce cours est généraliste : s’il veut ouvrir à la question de l’interculturalité, il cherche tout autant à ouvrir la question de la spiritualité – et des spiritualités – au cœur des pratiques soignantes interdisciplinaires.
Vous avez un intérêt pour la réalité de l’interculturalité en contexte de soins ? Ce cours rencontrera vos questionnements, que vous soyez :

  • Étudiant.es en sciences humaines et/ou en santé,
  • Professionnel.les de la santé,
  • Accompagnant.es spirituel.les et équipes d’aumônerie.

Ce cours ne vise pas principalement à développer une compétence clinique en termes de savoir-être du professionnel. Soucieux d’une dimension pratique, il vise plutôt l’éveil à l’importance de la dimension spirituelle qui se joue dans la relation de soins, au cœur des institutions de soins contemporaines et à ses spécificités en situation d’interculturalité. Pour y parvenir, il vous apportera des outils que vous pourrez vous approprier en fonction de votre propre intérêt et de votre questionnement.

What you'll learn
Au terme de ce cours, vous serez capable de :

  • Distinguer les concepts de spiritualité, vie psychique et culture pour une rencontre ajustée du patient au cœur de ses besoins.
  • Utiliser des outils (grilles d’analyse et de compétences, modèles théoriques, modèles organisationnels...) pour repérer le "spirituel" dans le soin et vous l’approprier.
  • Identifier et décoder les signes verbaux et non verbaux exprimés par les patients et pouvant renvoyer à une dimension spirituelle.
  • Reconnaître et intégrer les mécanismes culturels (stéréotypes, préjugés, traditions, comportements, langages...) présents dans la relation de soin et/ou d’accompagnement.
  • Discuter des enjeux liés à la spiritualité en contexte de soins (son épistémologie, son utilisation, son instrumentalisation...), dans un contexte pluriculturel.
