Advice and exercise for rotator cuff related shoulder pain and improve your patients’ quality of life. Discover the benefits of the GRASP Best Practice Advice and Exercise Programme. Rotator cuff related shoulder pain is a common condition that causes impaired function. Regular exercise and advice play a crucial role in improving and managing pain and the ability to perform day-to-day activities. This two-week course for health professionals will introduce you to the GRASP (Getting it Right Addressing Shoulder Pain) Best Practice Advice and Exercise Programme to help improve treatment in your clinical practice.

The GRASP trial conducted by the Centre for Rehabilitation Research at the University of Oxford showed that a single GRASP best practice and advice session with a physiotherapist was likely to be cost-effective and is not significantly different in terms of clinical outcomes when compared with physiotherapy intervention of up to six face-to-face sessions.

  • Describe the impact of shoulder pain due to rotator cuff disorders
  • Summarise how GRASP Best Practice Advice and Exercise Programme (GRASP programme) was developed
  • Apply the GRASP programme to adults with a new episode of shoulder pain (i.e., within the last 6 months) attributable to a rotator cuff disorder
  • Use behavioural support strategies to help patients exercise regularly
  • Reflect on implementing the GRASP programme and behavioural support strategies in your clinical practice
