This is a foundational course that will start with a discussion on the need and environmental impacts of electric vehicles and their role in sustainable mobility. We will discuss the history and evolution of electric vehicles with industry examples. Then we’ll review different electric vehicles based on the propulsion type, energy source, and battery size. We will also discuss the key components of the electric vehicle and their major functions. Finally, a review of different powertrain layouts will be provided. We will conclude the course by addressing challenges, issues, and opportunities, as well as exploring emerging trends and technologies in the electric vehicle industry.
Upon completing this course, you will be able to get a strong foundation on the fundamentals of electric vehicle technology, including know-how on their key components and architecture.
