Never before has the need for News Literacy been more urgent. As news consumers are bombarded with a constant stream of fake news, propaganda, hoaxes, rumors, satire, and advertising — that often masquerade as credible journalism — it is becoming more and more difficult to distinguish fact from fiction. While the public’s faith in the news media erodes, purveyors of misinformation have helped give rise to troubling cultural trends and alarming political movements.

This course prepares learners to empower themselves through metaliteracy in a connected world. Metaliteracy promotes critical thinking and self-reflection to consume, create, and share information with others. Participants will learn how to critically navigate, evaluate and produce information in open, online, and social media settings.

Se tratarán las aplicaciones educativas de diversas herramientas y su uso en dos vertientes: en el aula -de manera presencial o semipresencial- y en entornos de telenseñanza (e-learning). Otros temas como los PLE, la ciudadanía digital, la competencia digital,... nos servirán para completar una panorámica actual de introducción a los tópicos que suscitan el interés de la tecnología educativa.

Accept the challenge and learn how to navigate an ever-evolving information landscape as both consumers and creators of information. Learn how to use and remix information ethically, and how to create and share an online social identity. Those who successfully complete a series of quests and challenges will earn a digital badge demonstrating their achievements as responsible and empowered digital citizens.
