Oportunidades y riesgos empresariales en un mundo globalizado» es el tercer y último curso de la especialización «Globalización, crecimiento económico y estabilidad» impartido por la profesora de IE Business School Gayle Allard. En este curso, los alumnos aprovecharán los conocimientos y la teoría de sus dos cursos anteriores y los aplicarán a los eventos que actualmente suceden en el mundo. Además, puede funcionar como curso independiente para quienes quieran saber cómo afectan los factores macroeconómicos a las economías, los gobiernos y los ciudadanos en diversos países.

Este curso incluye cuatro módulos, y cada uno profundiza en las circunstancias macroeconómicas que se han desarrollado en la reciente historia de cuatro regiones clave: EE. UU., Japón, Europa y China/India. Los alumnos analizarán cómo se relacionan las economías internacionales entre sí, las ventajas del comercio y la migración, el desarrollo económico y cómo se produce, entre otros temas.
La profesora Allard toma la teoría macroeconómica dominante y la convierte en una herramienta práctica para quienes quieran conocer las oportunidades y los riesgos de invertir y hacer negocios en cada una de las cuatro regiones indicadas.

Syllabus

WEEK 1
EEUU: PIB, inflación y desempleo; Crecimiento y brechas: revisión de las relaciones básicas.
La economía estadounidense no solo es la mayor del mundo, sino también una de las más desarrolladas del mercado libre; y sus datos son abundantes y excelentes. Supone una oportunidad ideal para que alumnos revisen las relaciones y variables en materia de políticas y macroeconomía básica, e identificar su presencia o ausencia en el mundo real. Mientras tanto, pueden dar sus primeros pasos para determinar si las situaciones «normales» o especialmente buenas ofrecen oportunidades de negocio, y si desviarse de las normas lleva a situaciones arriesgadas para las empresas que operan en ese país.

WEEK 2
Japón: Cuentas corrientes y monedas: relaciones económicas internacionales
crecimiento y desarrollo particular que se refleja en sus datos internacionales y macroeconómicos. Analizaremos en este segmento los datos de Japón, en contraposición a los de Estados Unidos, y encontraremos los desafíos únicos en materia de políticas que supondrá esta estrategia para Japón, y las oportunidades y los riesgos que implicará para los inversores.

WEEK 3
El experimento de integración europeo: los beneficios del comercio y la migración
La UE es la mayor zona comercial del mundo y, si fuera un país, sería una de las mayores economías. Las naciones europeas optaron por un intenso proyecto de integración económica en el periodo de posguerra, que ha incorporado a 28 naciones, pero una de ellas, el Reino Unido, está en proceso de abandonarlo. Debatiremos en esta sección cómo condiciona este tipo de integración el crecimiento, las crisis y la recuperación, y los mecanismos que los países con una política monetaria única y una sola divisa tienen (y no tienen) para ajustar sus economías. Qué hemos aprendido de la crisis de la eurozona y de la votación de tantos británicos por abandonar Europa, y ¿cuáles serán las implicaciones para las empresas que operan en esta región?

WEEK 4
India y China: Desarrollo Económico, cómo ocurre y los próximos gigantes del mundo
El segmento final del curso trata de los dos gigantes emergentes, India y China, y contempla las estrategias de desarrollo pasadas y futuras, y los riesgos y las oportunidades que entrañan. Se debate el propio concepto de desarrollo, y cómo tiene lugar, y las estrategias que las naciones pueden elegir para lograrlo. Los distintos componentes del PIB (C, I, G y X-M) se comparan entre India y China en un periodo prolongado de tiempo para ver cuáles han sido las diferentes fuerzas motrices del crecimiento en los dos países a lo largo del tiempo. En esta sección se presta especial atención a los indicadores institucionales, que son muy distintos de los que presentan los países desarrollados, y las divergentes tendencias demográficas en los dos países; y las implicaciones de esas diferencias para el futuro.
