Lucinda D. Davenport
Dr. Lucinda D. Davenport is Director and Professor in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. She is published in books and refereed research journals, including the International Journal of Strategic Communications, Asian Journal of Communication, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Newspaper Research Journal, Web Journal of Mass Communication Research, The Journal of Media Economics, Journalism Educator, Journal of Communication Inquiry, Journal of Mass Media Ethics, and Visual Communication Quarterly. She developed one of the first interactive software programs for journalism education and has co-authored three international textbooks in reporting and mass communication that are at the top of their market: Reporting for the Media, (10th ed.), Media Now, (8th ed.), and The Media in Your Life. Dr. Davenport has worked as a reporter in newspapers, a news director and announcer in radio and television, a public relations practitioner in national retailing and a forum administrator in early online media. She has also held professional fellowships, such as being an online editor while in the academy. She has a B.A. in journalism from Baylor University, an M.A. in mass communication from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in mass communication from Ohio University. Her master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation were firsts in the world on computerized information services and online news.
