Quick Mix: Low End (Skillshare)
Quick Mix is going to be shorter lessons with practical tips so you can get the info and get out! In this class I will be showing EQ notching and sidechain techniques to help you get a much cleaner and tighter low end. I will show you how to find the frequencies you should be removing so your low end elements fit together like a puzzle. After that we'll use sidechain compression to make room between competing instruments.

These tricks are relatively simple yet amazingly useful so once you learn them you'll keep using them (I use them in every mix). If you are not using ableton you can get the same effect with stock effects from other DAW's.

Try using the EQ and compression techniques shown in the lesson on your next mix. The goal for this mix will be getting a tight low end. This means carving enough room for each element without killing the warmth and energy in your bass frequencies.

If you don't have a full mix to work on try downloading a drum loop and bass loop that work together and practice on those.
