Marc "Zeke" Kossover is a Teacher in Residence at the Exploratorium. He is the co-director of the Leadership Program which mentors and coaches new teachers. I was a high school science teacher for 21 years, finishing my career as a Dean of Math and Science. I have taught in San Francisco, Dallas, New Orleans, and Houston. I am a graduate of Rice University.

In 2011 and 2012, I was an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the National Science Foundation in Washington DC.

I am a graduate of the Exploratorium Teacher Institute and am a member of the Exploratorium Leadership Institute where I mentor science teachers new to the profession. In Summer 2010 I was the Gratta Lab Fellow at Stanford University where I helped on a project trying to find the mass of the neutrino. For two summers I was the Clemens Research Fellow and visiting scholar at Stanford University where I researched ways to store hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cell cars. In 2007, he won The Herbst Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2006, I won an A+ for Energy grant from BP. I have won a Low Cost Apparatus Award from the American Association of Physics Teachers in 2002 and more recently in 2012, and I have served as staff on National Science Teachers Association Toyota Tapestry grant. I have presented at numerous science and educational conferences, including the Exploratorium and Teach For America.

For fun, I like to present science demonstrations to public audiences. Some are crazy like walking barefoot on broken glass, but others are designed to make people see physics explanations in a new light. I have presented twice at Ask a Scientist, a Mensa Regional Gathering, The California Academy of Sciences Nightlife (thrice), the Bay Area Science Festival (twice), the Maker Faire (where I won an Editor's Choice Blue Ribbon), the USA Science and Engineering Festival (NSF, Carver, and Einstein stages), the Exploratorium, the USA Science and Engineering Festival, How to Night, Science Buzz Cafe in Sebastopol, CA, and Down to a Science.

This is an Exploratorium teacher professional development course taught by Teacher Institute staff, open to any science teacher (particularly middle or high school level) and science enthusiast. This is a hands-on workshop that explores topics and strategies teachers can use to help their students become active investigators of light.
