Suseela Malakolunthu




Dr. Suseela Malakolunthu is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1999 from the Michigan State University, in the area of Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy. In 2005 she was awarded the Fulbright Visiting Fellowship to conduct research at Stanford University, California. In 2009 she was appointed as a Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. In 2011 she worked with the research team of the Center for the Commonwealth Education (CCE) at the University of Cambridge and subsequently listed as a Fellow of CCE, Cambridge University. Most recently, (January 2013), she was appointed as the Teacher Education Advisor for the On-line teacher education program of the Commonwealth Education Trust, UK. Suseela is a recipient of several fellowships and awards for her academic excellence and participation in International Education Development Programs. Her biography has been listed in the Who is Who in the World 2006 and Who is Who in Asia 2007. She is a member of the Community of Practice of the International Bureau of Education (IBE), Geneva. Suseela has presented more than 40 academic papers in international conferences such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA), European Educational Research Association (EERA), and the Comparative International Educational Society (CIES). She has also delivered key note addresses and served as forum panelist in conferences around the world. Suseela has also published articles in ISI indexed journals, chapters in books, and monographs. She has published two books: Teacher learning in Malaysia: Problems and possibilities of reform (2007) and Fulbright chronicles: American experience, Malaysian perspective (2010). She also serves as an editorial panel member of the Leadership and Policy Quarterly (LPQ) and the editor of the Routledge Critical Studies in Asian Education Education in Malaysia (2014).
