Kathleen Almy
Kathleen Almy has been a professor of mathematics at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois for over 10 years and has taught high school and college level math for 15 years. She has a B.S. in mathematics education from Southern Illinois University and a M.S. in pure mathematics from Northern Illinois University. Since 2009, she has been a member of multiple national initiatives to develop pathways courses including the Quantway course and Math Literacy for College Students. She is the author of Geometry: A Toolkit for Success. She is also co-author of a statistics activity manual for Michael Sullivan’s statistics text and the text Math Lit, which supports pathways courses like Math Literacy for College Students. Since 2011, she and Heather Foes have taught the pathways course Math Literacy at Rock Valley College and have given numerous workshops and talks to help other faculty develop the course.
