Karen McDonnell
Dr. McDonnell is a public health program evaluation and implementation specialist with over 20 years of experience working with community groups, public health agencies, and health care systems, both locally and globally.
She is an expert in using mixed methods and works with public health students, medical residents and community groups to address current complex public health issues and challenges. A few examples of her recent work include collaborating to foster health equity in maternal health outcomes in Washington DC and developing and testing a community-centered FGM/C prevention project. In the MCH program, Dr. McDonnell teaches Program Evaluation and Maternal and Child Health.
She is a member of the ASPPH Academy of Distinguished Teachers and has been honored with the ASPPH Early Career in Public Health Teaching Award and Milken Institute SPH Excellence in Teaching Award. She also is a member of NASEM Global Forum on innovation in health profession education.
