Ed Dixon
Ed Dixon Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literatures, is Director for Technology of Penn Language Center and Lecturer for German at the University of Pennsylvania. He is active in a variety of areas related to classroom instruction, faculty support, and research publications. For 2013 - 2014, he designed a Foreign Language Certificate in Instructional Technologies and Online Learning and involves faculty in the presentation of their work with technology at regional and national conferences. Ed is past-president of the Northeast Association for Language Learning and Technology and taught in summer 2010 the first fully online language course for credit from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2011, Ed received Penn's prestigious affiliated faculty teaching award for distinguished teaching in the College of Liberal and Professional Studies and edited a collection of papers presented at NEALLT 2010 for the International Journal of Virtual and Personal Learning Environments (IJVPLE; Volume 3: Issue 3 (2012). During 2013 & 2104, Ed will present at ACTFL, NCOLTCL and CALICO on innovative uses of participatory networks for language teaching and learning. His proposal with co-author Michael Thomas was selected by CALICO's Editorial Board for the 2015 volume in CALICO's book series. In 2014, Ed designed and will conduct the first language-learning MOOC for German on the Coursera platform.
