Ching-Yao Chen

Prof. Ching-Yao Chen is a full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), one of the leading research universities in Taiwan. After earning a BS from National Chung-Hsing University in 1988 and two years mandatory services in the ROC army, he studied at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, University of Southern California, where he received his MS and Ph.D. in 1992 and 1998, respectively. Before his return to Taiwan in 1999, Prof. Chen was a research associate at the University of Southern California and University of Electro-Communications (Tokyo). His research interests lie in fundamental thermo-fluid science. Some of his research results are highly related to enhanced oil recovery and crystal growth for solar PV cell. Prof. Chen is an experienced instructor and regular invited speaker to energy technology.
- Professor Chen received the award as the Distinguished Young Scholar in Mechanics by the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (Taiwan) in 2010.
- He was the associate dean of NCTU Office of International Affairs in 2009~2010 and 2011~2013.
