Xiaohong Guan

Xiaohong Guan received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in control engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1982 and 1985 respectively, and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of Connecticut in 1993. He was a Senior Consulting Engineer with PG&E from 1993 to 1995. He visited the Division of Engineering and Applied Science, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, from January 1999 to February 2000. Since 1995, he has been with Systems Engineering Institute, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xian, China, and was appointed as the Cheung Kong Professor of Systems Engineering in 1999, and the Dean of School of Electronic and Information Engineering in 2008. Since 2001, he has been also with the Center for Intelligent and Networked Systems, Tsinghua University, and served as the Head of Department of Automation, 2003–2008. He is an IEEE Fellow and is serving the editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. His research interests include optimization of electrical power and energy systems, markets, and cyber-physical systems such as smart grid, sensor networks, etc.
