Ramesh Venkataraman
Ramesh Venkataraman is Chairman of Kelley Direct Programs, the home of online graduate business education at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He also serves as Kelley’s Associate Dean of Information and Instructional Technologies, a school-wide strategic role.
Professor Venkataraman, a professor of information systems, is the John R. Gibbs Professor at the Kelley School, where he has spent more than 20 years teaching, conducting research, and leading academic programs. He is also the co-author of a leading textbook on database management, Modern Database Management.
Prior to leading Kelley Direct, Ramesh led Kelley’s 7,000-student Undergraduate Program, ranked #4 nationally by U.S. News & World Report. His tenure focused on strengthening co-curricular experiences and increasing leadership and organizational capabilities within the program. He also is the founding chair of Kelley’s master’s program in information systems, which prepares students to solve business problems through the use of technology.
Ramesh earned a Ph.D. in Information Systems from University of Arizona, an M.S. in Computer Science from University of Iowa, and a baccalaureate degree in computer science from the Birla Institute of Technology.
