- B.A. (Linguistics/Maori)- The University of Waikato, 1992

Interests in measurement (including Item Response Theory), assessment and language testing, especially in Maori and indigenous language education contexts. Focuses on quantitative approaches to research and data. Undertakes research on changes in the structure of Maori language and efforts to revitalize Maori and indigenous languages, in educational and community contexts. Also interested in the achievement of Maori and minority students.

You will consider various techniques which help to assess student learning. The course also will help you to acquire the skills to develop and use appropriate assessment procedures. This course is part of the Foundations of Teaching for Learning program which is designed to assist people who are currently teaching but have had no formal teacher education improve their understanding of their role and work as a teacher.
