Mariam Manuel

 

 


 

A graduate from the University of Houston teachHOUSTON program, Mariam Manuel is currently serving as a science instructional coach for Katy Independent School District. Ms. Manuel strives to ensure that secondary science instructors are provided with the support and tools needed to integrate innovative teaching strategies, inquiry, and meaningful technology into the classroom. Previously, Ms. Manuel served as the Pre-AP Physics Team lead at Cinco Ranch High School, where she helped write the district curriculum consisting of rigorous labs, activities, and projects. Ms. Manuel has served as the curriculum coordinator and instructor for the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp where she helped develop and teach age-appropriate STEM curriculum. Ms. Manuel is expected to graduate this summer with a Master’s degree in STEM Education through UTeach Engineering. She plans to use the knowledge and skills obtained from this program to further her impact in education. Ms. Manuel will return to the University of Houston in the fall of 2014 to serve as the adjunct professor for a course designed to build content knowledge and provide effective pedagogical approaches for teaching topics of physics.
