Recycle Your Art: A Fun Mixed Media Approach (Skillshare)
In this class you'll learn how you can recycle your old art, using Photoshop! Instead of starting from scratch, jump right into the fun of mixed media digital painting by working directly on top of a finished piece. This mixed media approach will free you up creatively and have you feeling inspired. Since you already have a finished drawing, you will be able to fully explore different creative outcomes.

And with Photoshop, this is made easy. We'll explore how experimenting with new textures, colors, values, proportions and storytelling can give you a completely new piece! All you need to get started is an old drawing, Photoshop, and a drawing tablet.

So grab that piece you have lying around that's been gathering dust and let's start recycling!

A good knowledge of photoshop basics is recommended before taking this course.

Your class project is to take one of your old artworks and paint over it in Photoshop! (Or another digital painting program.)

This class assumes a basic working knowledge of Photoshop. If you don't have that yet, you can pick it up in a little over a half hour in Photoshop Demystified: A Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting. :)
MATERIALS

-Old Drawing

For this class you'll need a piece of art you've made in the past. I'll be using one of my past portraits. But feel free to use a still life or figure drawing too if you wish.

- Photoshop

- Tablet and Pen

I love Wacom tablets, but there are many great tablets on the market.

Optional Software: Paint Tool SAI
PROJECT STEPS

1. Find an old sketch. (Portraits work great!)

2. Get a clear photograph or scan of it.

3. Use the ideas from class to make your drawing into a completely new creation.

4. Share your project with the class! (Before and After shots are perfect.)
