Beginner's Guide to Amigurumi Crochet (Skillshare)

Do you know you could make your own doll via crochet? Yes, you can! And it's relatively easy. Crocheted (or knitted) dolls are also known as "Amigurumi". Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, usually cute stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is a portmanteau of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.

If you are a absolutely beginner to crochet, it's advisable to know some basic stitches before watching this class. Minimum crochet knowledge needed are:

  • Ch (Chain Stitch)
  • Sc (Single Crochet)
  • Inc (Increase)
  • Dec (Decrease)

Familiar with all those stitches? Then you're ready to learn! This class is also suitable for fellow crocheter who already know how to make Amigurumi because I'm going to show some different methods for different techniques. Which I promise you, that you will change the way you work and start to use for every Amigurumi project onwards!
You will gain these skills by the end of the class:

  • Start with a neat and tight close loop in the beginning of your amigurumi piece
  • Decrease the visibility of holes in your work
  • Able to create a neat shape for your amigurumi
  • Able to finish off with no visible hole
  • Neatly joining parts together
  • Create a neat finish for your piece and voila!

Beginners, not sure which project to get you started? Too many varieties of free written pattern to choose from? The shapes in the pattern seems intimidating??
Not to worry, I have the perfect pattern for you to get started if you can’t decide on one. Just download my Fat Rabbit pattern which I have attached in this Project.
Not your first amigurumi attempt? How about re-doing the amigurumi project that you have done before and see the difference for yourself?
I would love to see your WIP (work in progress) pictures and finished look. So please post away on this project space! Posting your work will also inspire and motivate the other students as well, so I really encourage it. I can also answer any questions that you might have and I will try my best to help you along the way.

Crochet Floral Wreath - Showy Decoration Whole Year Round! (Skillshare)

I carefully choose these patterns, because I wanted them to be not so obvious. So when you look at the result, not for sure you can make it just like that. It also took me a while to find out, how they are made, therefore I find them very exciting. The Irish Lace Crochet is especially close to my heart. This is a trend in crochet, which I find really special and it is pretty different, although using the very same stitches.
