Anne Becker

Anne E. Becker is the Maude and Lillian Presley professor of global health and social medicine and associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is also vice chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine as well as director of the Social Sciences M.D.-Ph.D. Program at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Becker received her PhD in anthropology from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and her MD from Harvard Medical School. She trained in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Becker is the former director of the Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, past president of the Academy for Eating Disorders, and served as a member of the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-5 Eating Disorders Work Group. She is past co-editor in chief of the journal, Culture, Medicine and Psychiatry, and is presently an associate editor of the International Journal of Eating Disorders. Dr. Becker is the 2013 recipient of the Price Family Award for Research Excellence from the National Eating Disorders Association.
