Sven Andersson

Professor Sven B. Andersson got a Ph.D. in energy conversion in 1990 at Chalmers University of Technology. Since 1996 he is working with teaching and research in the area of vehicle powertrain. The research is mainly concerning the efficiency of internal combustion engines, but more and more the rest of the powertrain is included. As a teacher at Sven is engaged in courses regarding powertrain related topics like “Internal Combustion Engines”, “Powertrain Mechanics”, and “Electric and Hybrid Vehicles”. He is also involved in hands-on based education projects like Formula Student and Shell eco-marathon. He has twice received a pedagogical award as most pedagogical teacher on graduate level.

Hybrid Vehicles (edX)

Learn to design hybrid powertrains which meet the needs of modern vehicles, by combining the strengths of both electric motors and combustion engines. Why are hybrid vehicles still more common than battery electric ones? Why are electric vehicles still more expensive than conventional or hybrid ones? In this course, [...]

Electric and Conventional Vehicles (edX)

Learn how electric and conventional powertrains work and methods to analyse their performance and energy consumption. Electric powertrains are estimated to propel a large part of road vehicles in the future, due to their high efficiency and zero tailpipe emissions. But, the cost and weight of batteries and the [...]
