Sennay Ghebreab

Sennay Ghebreab is Associate Professor of Neuroinformatics at University of Amsterdam and Scientific Director of the Civic AI Lab (CAIL). This is a lab for civic-centered and community minded design, development and development of AI.
He received his M.Sc. degree from the University of Amsterdam, where he studied Information Systems (1992-1996). In 1996 he stayed with the Image Processing and Analysis Group (IPAG) at Yale University where he did graduation work on "A Visual Editor for Automated Feature Computation in Medical Image Database Management Systems".
He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Amsterdam, where he did research in the Intelligent Sensory Information Systems (ISIS) group from 1996 to 2001. From 2002 until 2005 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam (BIGR) at the Erasmus MC, University Medical Center.
In 2005, he returned to the University of Amsterdam with the goal to bridge research between computer vision and human vision. He worked as an assistant professor in two different research groups at two different faculties: the Intelligent Sensory Information Systems Group and the Cognitive Neuroscience Group Amsterdam.
