Samya Beidas-Strom

Samya is a British economist, holding an MPhil degree in economics from University College London and an MSc degree in international finance from the University of York. Currently, she is working as a senior economist at the IMF’s Institute for Capacity Development, having worked previously in the Research and Middle East Departments. Prior to the IMF, she was a member of the UK’s Government Economic Service, influencing development, investment and trade policies first in Europe and then in South East Asia; and an analyst at Unilever PLC. Her research interests include applied macroeconomics and econometrics, including oil price formation. She speaks fluent Arabic and French, and a little German and Italian, too.
