Luis Pomares

Dr Luis Martín Pomares earned his BSc in computer science engineering at the University of Almeria, and his PhD in solar radiation forecasting with statistical methods from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has 15 years' experience in solar resources assessment and forecasting. In 2004 he began his professional career at Plataforma Solar de Almeria (PSA) developing the data acquisition system and all the software for PSA's BSRN station. In 2009 he obtained his PhD in solar energy forecasting at CIEMAT, Spain’s National Laboratory for Energy Research. Dr Pomares is currently working at Hamad Bin Khalifa's Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI). He is conducting various solar resources assessment and prediction tasks which cover all phases needed by CSP and PV projects. He is an expert in solar radiation estimation from satellite, the creation of solar energy maps, analysis of ground measured data and solar energy forecasting. Dr Pomares has nearly 15 journal papers, 40 conference papers, one book authored and one edited book in the field of solar resources.
