Luis Mundaca

Luis Mundaca is Associate Professor and Reader at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden. He is an environmental economist interested in climate change, energy, public policy and development. Luis contributed to the ‘Global Energy Assessment’ (Cambridge University Press, 2012), a major international scientific effort that produced a comprehensive integrated assessment related to energy for sustainable development. He has also served as a Lead Author for the 5th IPCC Assessment Report on Climate Change Mitigation (Working Group III). His work focused on the economics of climate change, portfolios of policy instruments and the empirical assessment of policies. In 2008, his research on climate and energy policy evaluation won the Nordic Award in Social Science, prize conferred by the Energy Forum and the Nordic Energy Research Council. Luis holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Environmental Economics, a M.Sc. in Environmental Management and Policy (both from Lund University, Sweden); a Diploma in Environmental Management (Universidad de Concepción, Chile); and a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration (Universidad San Sebastián, Chile). Luis serves as Associate Editor for the Climate and Development Journal.
