José Retana

José Retana is the Sustainability Senior Manager at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ LLC. His role includes driving the implementation of the Sustainability Strategy for the tournament, developed jointly by FIFA, Qatar 2022 and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. His work aims to maximize the FIFA World Cup’s long-term contribution to people’s rights and well-being, economic development and natural environmental protection, and avoid any adverse impacts that the preparation, staging and post event activities of the tournament could have on these areas. Previously, José worked for 15 years as a consultant in Europe and the Middle East, where he advised a significant number of organizations to enhance the sustainability of their decisions through better understanding of the ways they change the economies, environments and communities in which they operate.
