Jolyon Bloomfield

Jolyon Bloomfield is a Lecturer in Physics at MIT. He specializes in general relativity and cosmology research. His main interests are in modified theories of gravity, particularly with an eye to explanations of dark energy. He has also investigated formation mechanisms for primordial black holes, and dabbled with cosmic strings.
Jolyon is also a dedicated teacher, and has taught the introductory physics sequence at MIT for a number of years. The unusual combined skillset of an educator, a programmer and a physicist has led him to specialize in implementing technology in the classroom. He has also made numerous contributions to the development of Open edX.
