Ariane Janse van Rensburg

Ariane is an Associate Professor and the UG Director of the Architecture programme at the School of Architecture and Planning (SoAP), Wits University. She was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s team teaching award for innovative decolonial teaching that bridged beyond architecture as well as a teaching Development Grant by the South African Department of Higher Education and Prior to taking up this position she gained some experience working for award-winning architects and then opened her own practice, doing a variety of residential and institutional architectural work throughout South Africa. Her areas of expertise include: Architectural pedagogy with a focus on the transition from School to University, Transformation of the Architectural Profession, Design of Mental Health Facilities and Stained Glass in Architecture.
