Alka Roy

Alka Roy is the founder of The RI Labs and The Responsible Innovation Project, and a guest lecturer at UC Berkeley in Silicon Valley. She advises and guides business leaders and startup founders through technology evolution and how to innovate responsibly. She speaks, writes, mentors, and hosts multidisciplinary tech and product sessions on emerging technologies and innovating with values. She actively contributes to several Open Source and industry ML/AI, Data Science and Trusted AI committees, including The Linux Foundation and IEEE.
Alka is also a product and technology leader who has been part of several industry firsts for AT&T and Cingular Wireless and has led Wireless Evolution, Cloud Services and Conversational AI. She was instrumental in setting up the Bay Area 5G co-create lab for AT&T to spur innovation and has led the Responsible AI initiative for AT&T’s Innovation Center.
She holds patents for policy and security frameworks, mentors extensively and has served on advisory boards for startups, industry groups and several non-profits. In addition to a Computer Science & Electrical Engineering degree, Alka also holds an MFA in creative writing & literature and is a recipient of the Rising Star, National Women of Color in Technology Outstanding Contribution Award.
