Alice Wong

Dr. Alice KY WONG obtained her undergraduate degrees in Foods & Nutrition and the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in the USA. Given this background with Registered Nurse License and Public Health Nurse License in California, she is passionate to work with families of different cultural groups to develop healthy lifestyles in the community setting. She started her professional practice in the acute geriatric psychiatric unit (Behavioral Medicine Center) from staff nurse to Day shift in-charge position before relocating to Hong Kong with an ambition to continue in the nursing profession. After obtaining the professional RN License from the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, she worked at the Medical Unit of the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital. She always has a passion to become a public health educator that her opportunity comes when the clinical teaching post from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University opened the door in nursing education that she later obtained a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) with her thesis submitted on Preventing Sub-clinical Childhood Lead Poisoning in Hong Kong (2004). Currently Dr. Wong is teaching in the pre-registration nursing program at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and co-teaching a Master of Clinical Leadership Program hosted by the Western Sydney University with modules on Cultural & Social Diversity of Health Care, and on the Capstone Experience in Health Care. Her professional research interests focus on public health programs and community health nursing. On curriculum development, Dr. Wong is collaborating with another division within the School of Continuing Education at the HKBU in proposing an interdisciplinary Level 3 General Education course to be held in the next academic year. Recent eLearning projects include a collaboration with Coventry University on their hosting of the Virtual World Tour 2021 targeting on virtual global exchange among the university students, and also in the working group in the process of proposal stage on the adaptation of Virtual Exchange practice in Hong Kong’s Higher Education Institutions.
