In this course you'll learn:

- The best tools and supplies for beginner watercolor artists

- How to transfer a printed image onto watercolor paper

- How to mix watercolor paint with water to create different values

- Work with the wet on wet watercolor technique

- How to create an ombre effect with watercolor paint

- How to create light and dark values with just one color of paint

For our class project, we'll be using the techniques you learn to paint a watercolor chicken! You can easily use these techniques to paint an entire flock of chickens if you feel so inclined!

In the videos, I'll show you how to paint monochromatic (one color) chickens with a variety of values and shades.

If you'd like to try painting these chickens in all different colors or doing some color mixing, I say go for it! I'd love to see how creative you can be with this project!

To the right, under resources, you'll find the printable file called hen flock outline. Before you begin the class, be sure to print this so you're ready to transfer the image to your watercolor paper before you begin painting.

I've also included a copy of the sample painting that I made in the resources section. This can be used as a guide while you work on your painting, but please remember, watercolors can have a mind of their own, and your finished product may not look just like mine, and that's perfectly fine!

When you finish your chicken painting, please do share photos of it with the class, we'd love to see them!
