Yao Tang

Yao Tang is an Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. After receiving a BA degree in economics from the Beijing International Studies University in 1998, he worked in the industry in Beijing for three years. He obtained a master’s degree and a Ph.D. degree in economics from the Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia in Canada in 2003 and 2009, respectively. Before joining the Peking University in 2016, he taught at Bowdoin College in Maine, US from 2009 to 2016, and was tenured there in 2016. Prof. Tang’s research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, and the Chinese economy. He has published in academic journals such as Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of International Economics, and Management and Organization Review.
