Sphesihle Makhathini

Sphesihle Makhathini is a research fellow at Rhodes University. He received his PhD in Radio Astronomy from the same university in 2017. After two years of working as Data Scientist for the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), in August 2018 he moved to his current position at Rhodes University, where he also lectures on a part-time basis.
Areas of expertise:
- Algorithms and software for radio interferometry (RI) data processing and synthesis.
- Workflow management tools for RI data processing and synthesis
Sometimes dabbles in:
- Electromagnetic afterglow of transient radio sources
- Astrophysics of radio galaxies and galaxy clusters
