Raf Vandebril
Raf Vandebril (PhD in Engineering Sciences, 2004) is a professor at KU Leuven in the Department of Computer Science. His research centres around numerical linear algebra, with particular focus on eigenvalue problems, structured matrices, and differential geometry for optimization on matrix manifolds. He teaches analysis and linear algebra to bachelor students in engineering at KU Leuven. He was involved in writing three books, two on semiseparable matrices, and one on eigenvalue problems. Currently Raf Vandebril is the vice-president for conferences of the International Linear Algebra Society. Raf was awarded an outstanding paper prize for the development of a structured linear algebra inspired algorithm to compute the roots of polynomials.
