Peter Schepelern




Peter Schepelern is associate professor in film and media studies, Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, University of Copenhagen. He is an expert in Lars von Trier and the Dogma 95 movement, but has also published widely on film history. American and European film and directors and Scandinavian film culture. His Filmlexikon (2010, in Danish) is widely used and his book on Trier, The Elements of Trier. A Film Director’s Work (1997) is considered the authoritative work in Danish on Trier.

This course deals with the social, institutional and cultural background of film and television in Scandinavia and in a broader European and global context.
